The European Union–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) has come into effect for 5 years (from August 1, 2020). During this time, the EVFTA implementation was seriously affected by many factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, logistics and supply chain crisis, geopolitical fluctuations, etc. However, with the close cooperation between EU and Vietnam, the EVFTA has played into full field, becoming one of the most successful free trade agreements and making much contribution to help both side to overcome the difficulties.
Now, the Vietnam and EU are at the threshold of new height of cooperation, It’s necessary to review the achieved results, identify encountered problems and challenges in the past five years, thereby drawing lessons to bring the EVFTA into full play, particularly in the new peridod with many new obstacles and requirements.
Therefore, the Delegation of Vietnam to EU, Embassy of Vietnam to Belgium and Luxembourg hold an international seminar “5 years of EVFTA’s implementation and beyond” from 14.00-16.00 of the 6th June 2025 at The Hotel (Bd de Waterloo 38, 1000 Bruxelles), following by the Meet and Greet with topic of Vietnam Food and Fruit Festival from 16.30 -18.00 of the same place and date.
The objective of the seminar is to go beyond the mutual sharing of information and exchange of experiences. Participants are encouraged to identify and discuss concrete opportunities for cooperation activities between Vietnam and the EU in these thematic areas, particularly multiplying the role of EVFTA to grasp the future success in the context of current internation trade chaos.
The Seminar will bring together about 250 officials, economic stake holders, business, associations, think tank and experts, from the EU and Vietnam including 3 Ministries and 10 Provinces of Vietnam together with high ranking officials from International Trade Committee of EU Parliament, DG for Trade and Economic Security, Agriculture, EEAS of EU, Leader of Belgium Senate and Provinces. Participants have the opportunity to exchange views, share best practices and network amongst themselves and with representatives from EU and big delegation from Vietnam while enjoying typical fruits and foods from Vietnam.
